Last Days Church | Kenya 2021

Show them what My ‘last days church’ looks like. God’s words were ringing in my ears as I looked out the window of the 777 Dreamliner, my new home for the next 12 hours. After 36 hours of total travel time, I would finally arrive at my destination on the east coast of Kenya, Africa.

I’ll share a bit about this Holy Spirit-inspired mission on the podcast, but suffice to say that I saw the raw, miracle-working power of God in action in places I never imagined myself standing, with people I never imagined meeting, and during a time where international travel was frowned upon. I knew I had heard God, so here is a brief story of my obedience to His Word.

I think my main takeaway for people is this: take the time to hear from God, be found faithful with what He says–every step of the way–and you can expect to see Him move in greater and greater ways.

If I have learned anything over 20+ years of mission trip experience, it’s that God wants to reveal so much of His goodness to us and through us to people that regardless of my inadequacies (which are many), He somehow figures out a way to blow my mind and the minds of those He sends me to.

Take this trip, for example. I came into this trip with plenty of baggage (no pun intended), but what I thought were great hindrances to the trip–like personal weaknesses and fears–turned out the be the very things that God poured His power on and flowed through me mightily in.

I’m reminded of Paul’s encouraging words in 2 Corinthians 12:9.

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!

Remember, friend, when you are walking in the light of God’s Word and being obedient to His voice, you will find no such thing as weakness that cripples or hinders His plans in any way. Bless you! Enjoy the podcast!
