Tana River Mission Update + Next Outreach

…Indeed, in the whole world [that Gospel] is bearing fruit and still is growing [by its own inherent power], even as it has done among yourselves ever since the day you first heard and came to know and understand the grace of God in truth. [You came to know the grace or undeserved favor of God in reality, deeply and clearly and thoroughly, becoming accurately and intimately acquainted with it.] – Colossians 1:6 AMPC

Friend, it is my utmost prayer and desire that the solid teaching of God’s Word would penetrate and radically alter every culture, every society, and every nation. God’s Word has the power to change everything! People are hungrier than ever for the truths of God’s Word to transform their lives. We see this in Kenya, where Kainos Global is pressing forward with every opportunity we can to share the Gospel of Jesus and minister to those who are in spiritual and physical need.

Last week I sent an email to the Unstoppable email community, asking them to pray over an upcoming (now past) mission outreach event to a particularly Muslim-dominant and spiritually dark region in Kenya. I traveled to this specific area in 2021 and, by God’s grace, sowed the seeds of the Gospel among Muslim leaders who had, until now, been completely shut off and hostile toward Christians in that region. Our team has been strengthening connections with other pastors and leaders in this spiritually oppressed region, and the recent mission to this area was designed to encourage and empower the local Christian leadership as we endeavor to share the love and power of Jesus with the Frontier Unreached People groups in this region (see more on the specific Unreached people groups we are reaching HERE).

Below is the email I just sent to the Unstoppable community after the completion of this vital mission. I praise God for what He is doing and will continue to do through Kainos Global, and I am tremendously thankful for the opportunity to carry what He has put in my heart to do in this way!

–Email below–

Thank you for your prayers and support concerning the recent mission to the Tana River district in Kenya where our team hosted a “Pastors and Leaders Empowerment Dinner” over two days. During this time, many pastors, leaders, and missionary workers were fed spiritually and physically.

Exciting news: my devotional book, Face to Face – an 18-Day Journey of Hearing God’s Voice as His Friend, has now been fully translated into Swahili by professional translators out of Nairobi and is in print. We purchased 50 copies to start out with, and Peter said that all 50 copies were given out at this pastor’s meeting with many people left wanting more! The team also gave out 51 Bibles, but there were still people who were left wanting more. It is abundantly clear that these wonderful people are hungry for solid teaching from the Word of God and a Bible of their very own. In some cases, we have had pastors travel for many miles away (no small feat if you are barefoot walking through the jungle!) just because they heard our team gives out Bibles for free, and they are leading a congregation out in the bush country somewhere and need a Bible.

This woman is a pastor of a small underground church in an undisclosed area in Kenya. She came to the recent leadership meeting Kainos Global hosted and was greatly encouraged. We gave her this new bible and my freshly-translated book, Face to Face (Uso Kwa Uso in Swahili). This is just one of many leaders that our team ministered to during the recent Tana River leadership development meeting.

This image (taken a few days ago from a Kainos-supported mission) shows Pastor Peter praying over a small church who meets under a tree (yes, literally). The primary goal of Kainos Global is to teach and preach the Word of God to some of the most Unreached people groups on the planet, and this is one such people group. The people in this area are 99.9% Muslim (see here) and many have never heard the full Gospel of Jesus Christ, but have only been exposed to Islamic teachings.

I want to share some quick stats with you (I am a numbers person, after all). In just the month of SEPTEMBER ALONE, through Kainos Global support, we have seen:

  • 1021 people from Unreached People Groups heard the Gospel of Jesus (JESUS film, personal witness, open-air street preaching, etc.)
  • 96 pastors and/or missionaries served / supported
  • 51 Bibles given out for free
  • 54 people gave their lives to Jesus

Isn’t it amazing what God is doing in the hearts of people who need Him the most? I am absolutely floored by this, and I hope this encourages you to PRAY, GIVE, and even GO–the three things I believe every single Jesus-follower ought to do with respect to world missions.

What’s Next?

We are planning another outreach event: this time, to the Shakahola region. You may have heard of this region after some 2023 news stories made international headlines concerning religious extremism and cultish atrocities occuring there (see here). According to local connections, the pastors and churches in that region are still suffering greatly, and the threat of this demonic cult is still active today. Kainos Global will be supporting a mission team to travel to this area to serve, love, support through physical and spiritual resources–solid doctrinal Bible teaching to the leaders in this sensitive area–in the coming weeks.

We are finalizing the plan now, and the team will mobilize in the next few weeks. Please pray over the following:

1. For the safety and protection of our mission team. Please pray Scriptural prayers over our team, like Psalm 91, etc. That the spiritual darkness of the region would not be able to harm, hinder, or roadblock the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus.
2. For the hearts of the people of that region (the pastors, missionaries, leaders, congregations, and unbelievers) to be opened to the Word of God, for past traumas to be healed, and for restoration of familes. These people have experienced the unthinkable among their villages and neighborhoods; and many have lost family and friends due to the atrocities committed there. Many of the victims, to this day, are women and children.
3. For all the resources necessary for the mission. Gas, food, lodging, ministry materials, books, Bibles, clothing, etc. This is not as easy as it may sound, but our God is a big God.
4. For favor with local authorities. Due to the extent of the religious extremism that led to the Shakahola incident (and current similar events), we need local authorities to know and trust our teams, that we are not religous fanatics cut from the same cloth as MacKenzie and his cronies; but that we really do seek the best of the local peoples and are bringing solid truth from God’s Word to these sensitive people.

Thank you, friend, for joining us in prayer and financial support as we continue to feed Unreached Peoples with the spiritual (and physical) food and drink they are desperately hungry for.

Will keep you updated!

With all my love,
