S1E14: Seedtime and Harvest

How we handle money matters to God! Money is the proving ground for our faith, and is a powerful resource that can be used to carry the Gospel of Jesus all around the world to people who need it the most. It is vitally important for the man or woman of God to learn how to use money wisely, to grow it, build it, and to use it for the kingdom of God.

Like the laws that govern how our physical universe works, like physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, God has set up spiritual laws that govern growth. One such law is the law of sowing and reaping, or, the law of seedtime and harvest.

In Genesis 8, after Noah offered a sweet-smelling sacrifice to the LORD after he and his family were saved from the great Flood, God spoke the law of seedtime and harvest into existence, and it remains a powerful law in effect to this day.

And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Genesis 8:20-22, KJV

God forever established the law of seedtime and harvest, and we would do well to learn how to cooperate with this law, just as we have learned to cooperate with the laws that govern physics, like gravity.

We have to take into account the effects of gravity when we build and design literally everything in the world. We have learned, over the years, to take full advantage of gravity and have used it to create many ingenious inventions from roller-coasters to aircraft and rockets. Without a solid understanding and mastery of the fundamentals of physics in the universe, our society would be retarded in the areas of science, mathematics, technology, industry, and economics.

However, when it comes to the laws that govern sowing and reaping, many people are completely ignorant of how money works in God’s eyes. What is the purpose of money? How do you multiply money? How is a Bible-believing Christian to view something like money?

These are the questions that Jenny and I hope to bring out in this podcast. Our ultimate prayer is that you would be encouraged and stimulated to get into the Word of God for yourself and receive a deeper level of revelation about faith and finances from the Holy Spirit after listening to our story!
